Initially
The ExSybase group was initially created on the linkedin site, for former Sybase employees who wanted to form a professional network. As the group grew rapidly, it seemed a need existed to remain in contact with former colleagues and to learn of there where abouts.

So we looked for a suitable way to give a bid of extra value to this need, but found that most group sites hardly offer more than a forum kind of solution. Therefor, we soon bounced into a low cost solution, out of the box web site, which could be up and running rapidly without hardly any 'web' knowledge, which would be a cheap solution and which would be maintainable and scalable for the future.

After reading about several possible solutions we came up with the drupal solution which up till now seems to fill our needs without any doubts.

Near Future
As we are starting of from scrap, you might notice some look and feel changes to the site in the near future. Learning our selves we'll try the right way to manage content, permision issues, what items to put on the site and so on. So maybe you have to have some pacience with us and check back now and again to see how we are managing.
